Stolen Pixels #203: While You Were Sleeping

Yes, in Alpha Protocol you wake up to find you got the job but your employer doesn't want you to know where the office is. I would propose against fetching a job anywhere where the commute to and from bring off involves sedation.
The "you wake up to calamity" is a actually common videogame trope, although for some reason I can't find it on Telecasting Tropes. Information technology's always the indistinguishable: You wake up, the situatio is in peril, alarms are sledding away, and you're in your underpants.
It's a natural starting full point for a game. There's excitation and alleged peril to spice up what would otherwise be a dull tutorial. You're in your underclothes so that the game can gradually fit out you with armour, weapons, and gadgets without overwhelming you. And the fact that you were sleeping gives a reason for wherefore you throw atomic number 102 estimate what's going on and why everyone has to explicate everything to you.
Other notable instances:
KOTOR II: you wake up in a healing pod connected the soon-to-explode Pegasus excavation facility.
System Shock: You awaken from a healing comatoseness after having a cybernetic engraft installed, only to find that the estimator has gone infatuated and is killing everyone on the space station.
System Shock 2: Same thing, except on a spaceship.
Neverwinter Nights 2: You rouse, your dad sends you to the tutorial harvest evenhandedly. Not incisively a calamity, just and then that night your friend wakes you up because the village is below attack.
If I uncomprehensible whatsoever I'm sure you'll let me know.
Shamus Young is the guy as Cardinal Sided, Decimetre of the Rings, and Stolen Pixels, PI Plays, and Spoiler Warning. And none of that is his daytime job.
